As the warmer weather is setting in, you enjoy a day out at the
beach and are looking forward to jetting off somewhere hot, you find
yourself reaching for a lighter than normal coverage or rocking that
bare face on the daily. Everyone has their comfort zone when it comes to
makeup, I think that goes without saying. I personally like to opt for a
lighter coverage in the summer months, let my skin breathe that little
bit more, yet still know I'm taking care of my skin and also keep it
protected.
I don't actually think that my skin
is that bad. It goes through phases, sure. When my skin looks and feels
fresh and dewy, I feel 10x better about myself. Don't get me wrong I
love a blown out smokey eye and matte as hell lips as much as the next
gal but there's just something refreshing and relaxing about going a
little more on the natural side. I've started switching out my matte
shadows for light gold shimmers and metallics for a more summer ready
look. The Naked palette from UD is my go to for simple and pretty
shimmer shades. I've also made a point of keeping some lip balm on me
during the day to keep my lips hydrated and soft. I love good ol'
Vaseline and my newest fave is the Vanilla and Macadamia lip butter from Nivea.
It's
really important for me to even out my skin tone when wearing minimal
makeup. Now only if it were possible to walk around with THAT snapchat
filter on constantly, then all would be well. Colour correctors are
everywhere right now and do wonders for the redness around my nose and
those pesky dark circles. NYX, Makeup Revolution, L.A Girl, Makeup
Academy, just to name a few. Foundation wise my holy grail for light
coverage dewy skin is Benefit Hello Flawless. This foundation isn't for
everyone but I love it! Plus it has a really good SPF in so I know I'm
protected when I'm out and about. Rimmel Wake Me Up, Nars Sheer Glow and
Max Factor Skin Luminizer are some others I'd recommend if you want a
dewy, light coverage.
You can't beat going
back to basics - I exfoliate my skin twice a week, moisturise every day,
use almond oil and multiple other lotions and potions to keep my skin
in check. Not forgetting, water. I (try) to drink my recommended daily
amount, sometimes failing. But my skin loves me for it when I do! How do
you prep your skin for summer? And what are your go to products when
it's warmer?

The Nivea lip balm range all smell delicious!! I also opt for less makeup in the Summer, it's way too hot and sweaty for a full face. I like The Balm's tinted moisturiser for when my skin is looking good. I also have the Urban Decay palette and it's perfect for golden shades!
ReplyDeleteAt the moment, I'm trying to redo my skincare routine with natural products because my skin has been playing up. So far, so good, just wish I could get rid of redness forever! Great post!

ReplyDeleteI feel like im one of the few people who actually likes hello flawless it seems to be a really hit miss thing with people

Totally agree! Myself and one of my friends like it other than that I don't know anyone who likes it! I think a lot tend to opt for a heavier/fuller coverage rather than a light/medium like hello flawless! Thanks for reading and commenting :) xox
DeleteFab tips! I love the feeling of going bare faced but I do get a little bit blotchy so I'll have to check out some of the brands you mentioned! Thanks for sharing a great and handy post! love from boilersuitbabe.com
