THE NOT SO CONVENTIONAL PRIMER

Yet again, I'm extremely late on the bandwagon! Back in April last year the ledge that is Nikkie Tutorials raved about how amazing Nivea for Men Post Shave Balm was as a primer. In the months that followed it was basically sold out anywhere and everywhere. I completely forgot about it for a while and then whilst out (grocery... yawn) shopping the other week, there it was just chilling on the shelf in Asda. With my purse £3 lighter, it was finally mine!

I've been using this for a week now and can already see results. My makeup does last longer than it does when I use my regular primer, and I've found product applies very smoothly to skin. I have normal/combination skin and tend to get oily around my t zone. Because this is a moisturising product rather than oil controlling I do find that I can get quite oily throughout the day but don't feel that it comprises the longevity of the makeup that I'm wearing.

Because it is essentially a male grooming product, it does have a very manly scent but you can't smell it after a while and it doesn't linger on the skin. Although it claims to be a sensitive product, it does contain witch hazel, which I know some people's skin doesn't always agree with. So as with any product, please check all ingredients before using.

Have you tried Nivea for Men Post Shave Balm yet?

  2. Nikki is the queen! I need to try this so badly, I can't wait to get it. So affordable, yet probably better than most expensive primers out there. Its bizarre but such a good find. Great post Jenny!

  3. I found this in our bathroom cupboard whilst I was looking for some shampoo so I've stolen it to finally give it a go. I really like it and my makeup seems to go on so nicely. Plus side, I was out of primer & now I dont have to buy more.

  5. I tried it and didn't get on with it, I found my foundation was patchier than my usual primer. So I stuck it on a shelf and forgot about it, had half an idea to try it again with another foundation some time. Anyway, housemate knocked it off said shelf and even though it landed on carpet the bottle smashed! It's a plastic bottle but the bottom just smashed off! We were both shocked - the carpet smelled nice though :-(

  11. I haven't actually tried this product, but I have tried another aftershave moisturiser that I stole from my boyfriend and I loved how it worked for me. I think it's time for me to pick this up for myself to use daily.

  12. Very interesting! I use this and like it, but I am a guy :P I wouldn't really say the scent was strong, quite neutral, for a man anyway. Never knew it was a 'thing' for girls :)

  13. Once I heard of this I went out and bought it and haven't looked back! It's just as good as my smashbox primer and a literal fraction of the price. I didn't notice the smell as too strong though, I found it okay, a small price to pay for something this good!
